It would seem the only guides for identifying trees work only with leaves or fruit. So I have no clue what this tree is... except purdy 
UPDATE: I finally got a leaf and with a bit more searching figured out what this is... it's an Eastern Redbud, also known as a "Judas Tree". Cheers!
